James Dean, Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood in a screen-test for the Warner Bros./Nicholas Ray drama Rebel Without a Cause, 1955. This test was shot on March 23rd, 1955 with Ernest Haller handling the cinematography. The film was initially set to be made in black and white but after a few scenes were shot Warner Bros. upped the budget and started over in Technicolor, realizing that they had a potential blockbuster on their hands with a talented cast of young actors whose chemistry, both on-screen and off, was rare and uniquely compelling.
